Hot Buzz: TV Channels Blacklist Giaa Manek
It has been quite some time since we saw popular TV actress Giaa Manek on the small screen, her last appearance being on SAB TV fantasy show Jeannie Aur Juju (she was replaced by Rubina Dilaik, allegedly over monetary issues, before the show folded up in July 2014).

Rumour has it that one main reason why Giaa has no assignment in her kitty today is because she took on Star Plus by walking out of her fiction show Saath Nibhaana Saathiya (2011), to get an entry into Colors' dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

Most big networks don't like artistes who have a history of ditching them for their rivals, and we know how fierce the Star Plus-Colors combat is.

So, work dried up for this 29-year old, and even many producers are not interested in casting her till date.

Brushing the grapevine, when contacted, Giaa, started off by saying, "Some people are jealous of me, as I have managed to do two big shows - Saathiya and Jeannie - in my early years. Several other actors who've been around for a decade cannot boast of such a strong CV."

As that didn't say anything, we asked if she could explain her continued absence clearly. But the Gopi of Saathiya remained in denial mode. "I have rejected 13-14 shows, because I didn't like their script, and these offers had come from all channels. I have reached a pinnacle (Gosh! With just Saathiya and Jeannie?) and can't be part of a bad product. My next show has to be like the cherry on the cake. I am ready to wait it out since I have confidence in my abilities, unlike others who are constantly scared that they'll be forgotten if they're out of sight."

In hindsight, does she regret quitting Saathiya? "No, I did what was ethical," she quipped.

Well, we wish Giaa the best and hope that she bounces back. There's little that you and I can do to people who live in a word of illusion.
